The Institute for Professional Development and the CAAHE Student Services Conference Planning Committee are pleased to announce that the Annual Student Services Conference will be hosted by Montreat College and held in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 6 & 7, 2008.
The theme of our conference this year is "Mission Possible" and our keynote speaker is Carol Carter, founder and president of LifeBound, who will speak on "Becoming Champions of Change: Coaching Skills to Inspire and Motivate the Adult Learner." The conference will be one and one half days in length: a full day on Thursday, November 6 and half a day on Friday, November 7.
Conference attendees will be staying at the Marriott Charlotte SouthPark; 2200 Rexford Road, Charlotte, NC, 28211. The conference workshops will be held at the hotel. All reservations will be made through IPD using a master list based upon registrations. Please note that this year we are cutting off registrations at 45 people, so it is important to get your registrations in early.
IPD will again pay hotel lodging for up to two nights (Wednesday and Thursday) for two student services participants from each of our partner institutions or for one participant from each site for those institutions with multiple sites. All scheduled meals (breakfast and lunch on both Thursday and Friday) and a special evening of dinner and entertainment on Thursday evening will also be paid for by IPD. We are again soliciting workshop proposals this year so that student services participants will have the opportunity to actively contribute to the content of the conference. Workshop proposals on topics unrelated to the conference theme are also welcomed! A proposal form is attached and a deadline of September 15 has been set for proposal submissions. Proposal selections will be made and applicants notified by September 30.
Planning Committee members are looking forward to seeing all of you in a fun, relaxed setting where workshops, activities and events recognize and reward you for your many contributions to student success in our adult programs.
Warm regards,
The Planning Committee
